T6.1 DRL settings changed following repair

T6.1VW

Hi Everyone,

my T6.1 was recently repaired after a pile-up, luckily only tin damage. I found out that since the repair the daylight lamps burn with the low beams. The flashing light function that switches between daylight and flashing light works the same, only with the headlights on??!

As soon as the car has been locked and the doors open with the remote key in the dark, only the headlights are lit, but as soon as the ignition is turned on, the daylight lamps also burn, but dimmed. Anyone an idea what caused this?

Is that not standard operation, DRLs on with ignition and dim when headlights are on ?

No the drl normally turned off when headlights are on before the crash and same with other 6.1 types. The other way around when turning the ignition off the drl goes on (dimmed) until the you pull the key out. In my case this dimmed light stays on all the time.

Believe @Pauly is correct - DRLs should dim when headlights are on (AIUI, that's a legal requirement in the UK - though maybe it's different in the Netherlands). Perhaps they weren't set up correctly and they were adjusted as part of the repair(?).

It is correct what you say, only in the case of the 6.1 do the DRLs normally go off when you turn on the headlights. Since the entire front has been put together due to the collision, I suspect a connection error or closure somewhere in the wiring.

With the 6.1 as soon as you turn on the flashing light your drl goes off and only your flashing light is visible, flashing light off is drl on again with headlights off. In my case this also works with the headlights on and it shouldn't.

I'll be going to the garage soon for advice.

By flashing lights do you mean indicators

That's done in the BCM coding iirc sounds like they've changed it for whatever reason

The strange thing is that before the repair it worked normally. The T6.1 has been to a body shop and not to the dealer. However, the van has been outside for a few weeks with a damaged front, possibly a closure? All cables are connected as far as I can see.
