Buying a Kombi Conversion

Hey all,

I am looking for opinions on a van that I am looking at purchasing.

It's a T6.1 panel van converted to a kombi, it's a professional conversion. How do people find living with a converted panel van? Is the insurance always a pain? Any gotchas I should be on the lookout for?

It's a T28, I do not plan on fully converting it, just using it as a day van to carry bikes, maybe adding a sliding kitchen in the future.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts if there are any red flags on my idea here.

cheers

Mine is a 71 plate T28 panel van converted to a kombi 6 seater by Salop Vans in Shrewsbury Pat and I are more than pleased with it and we’ve fitted a Van King bed, drive away awning, front seat swivels and Chippys Workshop B pillar table. Insurance with Brentacre.

John.

Thanks, both,

I've been doing a few insurance quotes and have found it significantly higher than the standard kombi. Is this normal?

I got a quote of £280 for a factory kombi and for this specific vehicle my quote was £600 from a highstreet insurer and the best the specialists could get was £1100.

Clean record 12 years of exp and 9 years no claims.

So it seems a little off?

Cheers again

Hi,
Who made the custom unit in rear?
This is very similar to what I’m looking for to use in my bike wagon
It’s made by the guys at Vanper, they are based in Tamworth. It’s a good design as it allows you to put road bikes in without the need to lower the saddle like you’d need to with the Ovano.

Perfect, thank you. It’s a real balance of getting usable under the bikes versus getting the bikes in with the least faff
