T6.1 aux. fuel tap length

Hi all,

I've installed a heater using the auxiliary fuel tap that comes on the t6.1s, dropped the tank at an angle, cut it and clipped the connection on without taking the sender out as it was the most convenient option.

Does anyone know of the aux tap is the full depth of the tank or is it a bit shorter?

Cheers

It is shorter so you don’t run out of fuel
I thought that would be the case, just wasn't sure as I'm sitting on around 5l of fuel and the heater is still going.

Do you know how much shorter it is by any chance?

There’s pictures posted on the forum somewhere if you have a search around, I’m sure it’s curved and well off the bottom of the tank

Thanks Pauly, is this the one you're thinking of? It looks quite close to the bottom, I syphoned out the tank before I dropped it and it was for empty for sure, I re-filled it with 5L and going to run it till it stops out of curiosity.

It did stop, I've not syphoned out what's left in the tank to check but the vans range is estimating 25 miles. At 40mpg that would work out around 2.3l left which isn't much.
Bit too close for my liking! Might start carrying a spare 5l around with me again, I managed to run my T5 out of fuel once at a very inopportune moment on a roundabout! It was showing 15 miles to go at the time.

The spare fuel saved the day ...

Edit: nothing to do with the heater, that stopped working at the same time the low fuel light came on which was ideal I think.
