Springs only or mid-range coils on T6.1 T32?

Just about to take delivery of a new LWB factory Kombi, and need to sort out the ride height!
I don’t want to go really low, maybe 40-50mm drop from standard, and the van won’t ever be heavily laden.

Am I better off with a decent spring kit on standard shocks, like the Solo x Eibach 45mm springs, or mid-range coilovers?
I have seen these SSP coils for under £500, as well as a few others at a similar price-point (Bluebird, Van Slam, Prolow).
Any advice or experience with any of these kits would be much appreciated!

I've tried several different shock/spring set ups on my T6 kombi, (including the 'best shocks for comfort' from one of the leading Transporter suspension specialists), and I've ended up with Bilstein B4,s with 30mm Eibach springs.

I first put a set of 'standard' B4 dampers on the front which improved the ride immensely over the aforementioned set up, but then went a step further and fitted a set of B4 dampers, 'for vehicles with lowered suspension' which basically have a 20mm shorter shaft allowing damping more in the center of the shocks travel which improved things even more.

I also found its really important to make sure the springs are rated correctly, as too soft and you blow through the travel really quickly, and too stiff makes the ride hard.

Thanks for that @.50!
Maybe springs and new shocks is the way to go then. I’ve had good experiences with Vogtland in the past on cars and can pick up the springs for £160.
I didn’t realise Bilstein do a shortened B4, or do you mean the B8 shocks?

I've run a few different setups on my T5, T5.1 and T6 including Eibach springs on stock dampers, stance coilovers and currently on KW coilovers with Eibach springs. All have been T32 spec.

I highly rate stance coilovers. I did 25k miles on mine and the ride was way better than stock and probably not much worse than the kw/eibach vw fitment I'm running now. If your budget is circa £400 these would be my choice.

They are a B4 damper, part number 22-277053 'for vehicles with lowered suspension'.[/QUOTE]

If the budget will allow you wont get a better set up than the Definition kit we do , approx. 50 sets a month go out of here and never a bad word spoken

Based on KONI shocks and Evo Technik springs , This is a modular set up and the kit gets made up specifically for you and your vans needs , 1 kit fits all doesn't work with campers at all dont be fooled into thinking it will , Give us a call if you need more advice

was only really hoping to spend around £6-700, was maybe thinking lowering springs and B8s. How much ballpark would the KONI setup cost ?

The definition kit is the market leader even with a price tag of £1200.00 to £1295.00 incl vat

I dont think you will get B8.s and springs into the budget you mentioned . unless you can find a used kit maybe on E bay ??

I can get B8s for about £540, and Vogtland springs £160.
I’ve heard great things about your kits so might be in touch if I can find the extra cash!

I’d suggest you wait until you have a bit more cash and go to @CRS Performance to resolve your issues. He sorted out my VW California issues and his aftersales support is beyond compare. (I very much doubt if you’ll get that from a parts seller!)
