Split Charging System

Daft question... do VW pre-install the split charging cables and what not, even if you haven't ticked the box from new. I have a lot of wiring under the front pasenger seat?

these are the cables under the seat

Some of that is standard but the three fuses on the edge look like towbar wiring possibly
No VW don’t install any split charge wiring if not factory specced

Ah ha, thanks Pauly, it does have a factory fitted towbar fitted as well

I was looking at the wiring under the passenger seat this afternoon.

The 3 red wires that are crimped together seem to be permanently live:



Anyone know what they are for?

The taped-off cable may be the auxiliary battery feed from the e-box... untape it and put your tongue meter on it.

Your cable may well be the same.

It seems some of us are lucky - my van came with the cable already there, which saved me a job
