Speed governor?

Hi everyone, picked up my T6 yesterday. Decommissioned RAC van. Noticed it won’t go over 77mph so assuming there is a limiter on it?

Wondered if anyone else has had the same experience?

Thanks all

Yeah, I had the same, but you're lucky mine was stuck at 72 mph!! I don't have VCDS so I got it removed by my local indy, pretty simple job and not that expensive.

Mines also stuck at 77mph, had stage 1 remap done and it didn’t sort the problem so I’m assuming it has to be changed by vcds too

If you use the search function, you’ll find that it’s been recently discussed & resolved.

I did have a look, most are pointing toward vcds although a couple of people have stated there is a unit behind the dash that needs to be removed too, hoping this isn’t the case and a quick vcds can sort it!

If it’s a recent RAC, it’s “probably” in the engine adaptations. The one I did was.

It’s fairly recent (2018) so yea hopefully that’s where it’ll be! Wish I’d of found this forum before paying out for a remap thinking that would solve the issue . Thanks for your help!

How much were you charged mate, if I may ask?

My van is ex AA, 2017 150 DSG and won't go above 75. Found out on the motorway trying to pass some joker who kept speeding up when I attempted to pass....only for me to have to pull back in when the van hit the limiter......felt a right plonker lol.
So, got a quote from a local ECU Remapping "specialist" to come round and get it removed.....£180-£280 "depending on VCDS readings" from my van!!! :oops:o_O
For what is likely under a 5 minute job, I thought this to be taking the p*ss to the extreme. I can buy a genuine VCDS unit for £185 and do it myself and then also perform other coding stuff in the future if need be into the bargain.
I don't know how anyone can justify charging that for something that would take literally minutes, that's just plain cheek and greed if you ask me!

I was having a load of other work done at the same time so it was rolled into the cost - I reckon from my invoice they charged me about £50 for it. £180-£200 is just ridiculous, for that I'd totally buy a genuine VCDS!!

Removed mine with an ETR8 diag machine in cluster/ clocks/ adaptions fairly simple to do 10 minute job including the brew of course!
