Solar Sheds & Other Non-t6 Solar Projects - How We Done It -

Hi this is very helpful, thank you, and looks like exactly what I want. I thought my version seemed overcomplicated. Not planning on exporting to grid

We also run an EV in our set-up and being on a Smart tariff can charge it overnight and some slots during the day for 7.5p, going down to 5.5p on 1st April. We run the dishwasher, washing machine and tumbledryer off-peak to which saves about 25% of our daily usage.

As above I chose the Ecoflow Stream Ultra X - 3.84kWh 800w output. This tops up my existing 3kWh solar and 5 kWh battery

It is designed to take 2kW solar through the built in Microinverter, so might limit you slightly, but 2kW solar would charge the battery most sunny days - all in for £2k. Are you hoping to export the surplus?

I have always used enough electricity overnight to justify economy 7, and last year (before the new battery was fitted) I used 65% overnight - hoping for 90% now.

You just need a spur in the garage to install.

Here's my set up in the garage.

Out of interesetthe cable from the Ecoflow goes the a fused switchbox. Is thet wired into the 13A socket directly above it?

Thanks

Yes, the wire from the Ecoflow goes into the spur (via a 5a fuse as only 800w) then to the double socket above.

The existing double socket was already attached directly to the fuse box via 2.5mm T&E, then I paid an electrician to check my wiring and upgrade the MCB to 16a.

It seems you can connect the Ecoflow to a (new) fused spur on the ring main or a radial circuit.

With my set up, it seems that if we have a power cut, if I turn off the main Isolator Switch, and restart the Ecoflow, then it will run electricity through the whole house.

Also there are 2 x 13a sockets on the back in case you need to run a kettle or air fryer:)

I started off my domestic solar with the EcoFlow 800w plug in kit. ...and used the plug. . In 2022/ 2023.

Didn't realise they were out that early Lee.
Do you still run it ?
What's your assessment on output and usability?

They have been out for years, but mainly from in branded Chinese firms they I wouldn't trust.

But when EcoFlow released the 800w UK G98 version I was straight on it.

Two EcoFlow 400w ridgid panels, and the 800w power stream unit they plugs into a 13a socket..... I always get the cable too link in the EcoFlow delta2.

I run it for few months then upgraded to 3.6kw growatt inverter and added another two panels..

I've not stopped upgrading since then.

I sold the power stream on here too a member.
.

The magic moment for me was on a sunny day I saw my smart meter drop to 0watts and then went minus!!!!! ... I was actually exporting power to the grid ... Not getting paid for it, but it's proved that it worked....... Or worked great, it world of load 800w.

Straight away I wanted more power .. so added more panels and a bigger inverter, then added battery storage.

More testing this morning, all seems fine. Getting decent output even with panels flat (windy today).
I'm not paying for electric key this morning it would seem. Have a router, 2 Alexa's, a laptop, computer, American fridge freezer and a few other bit and pieces on.....

ah . . YES.

that magic moment when the electric meter shows 0.00w / 0kwh / £0ph

i remeber it well.

next step is MORE PANELS to up the PV power.

the add batterys to harvest extra power that can be used at night.

i started with this . . .

800w Ecoflow power stream in 2023 . . . .
