We had an 80W solar panel fitted by CMC and it failed after two years. Took it over the Travelvolts who confirmed it was knackered. He removed it using a wide scraper. Quite a lot of the paint came off the roof at the same time which is not surprising. Sods Law meant that the replacement 150W panel was portrait vs the old landscape layout so you can see some areas where the paint has come off. However, a small price to pay for a fully functioning solar panel.

Following this with interest and would appreciate an update on removing the panel when you have managed it. We have suffered what appears to be the same failure so when I get home I will be looking through my options :( Ironically, it is fine in normal British weather but when things heat up it gives up the ghost

The Vinyl wrap idea would definitely help with these situations....

Clear or coloured between the paint work and panel.... should definitely make removal of an old panel less destructive.

You can now buy the stuff on a roll and self apply using the water spray and squeegee method to get it positioned and stuck down...

Or just take the van to a wrapping place and ask them to fit a piece.
