Soft close not working

Hi, I know there are a few threads on this and I've read 'em all ...

2024 Highline Kombi, full electric sliding doors. Trying to find the fuses, soft close not working on one door only.

Doesn't seem to be the fuses under passenger seat, not sure if the soft close bit would have a separate fuse anyway?

As far as I can see the soft close mechanism is operated by a Bowden cable inside the door?

Edit: OBD11 finds no fault with the door.

TIA

not had an issue with my T6.1 with the soft close but I have had issues with the X5 where the lock actuator needed replacing.

The door was pulling in and I could hear the motor but the door was not being held and locked into place? Is this is what’s happening with yours? Can you hear the motors working?

Don't think so, can't hear the motor trying to do that final pull in. And helping it with a shove isn't doing anything either.

I've got the battery disconnected and on charge at the moment as it's probably got a bit low. I've read on other threads that disconnecting stuff and allowing everything to reset has helped.

Sounds very similar to my X5 issue, as even leaning on the door while the motor was making a noise didn’t help, the door just kept popping back out slightly. Only way to shut it was to shut it normally with a slight slam.

I’m pretty sure it was the door lock actuator that was replaced and it sorted the issue. And if that is the case I don’t remember it being expensive at all

Well battery's been disconnected and on charge with my Optimate for 8 hours, reconnected, problem still there. Will probably take the door card off tomorrow and see if there's anything obvious going on.

Wish I could find the fuses, though I doubt there'd be a separate fuse for the soft close bit.

Well I found the 40amp fuses for the doors, took 'em out so powered doors now not working yet the soft close on drivers side is still working! So that must be fused (if it's fused) somewhere else!

Oh hang on, I doubt anyone's reading this but it helps me to get my thoughts down on 'paper'. So clearly the soft close is taking power from the central locking, not the slider motor feed as it still locks with sliders deactivated.

Is there a power feed from behind where the handle is to where the lock is at the rear of the door or just the Bowden cable I wonder. Next job I guess.

Also I've read in another thread there's a module that controls all this behind the panels near the rear wheel arch?

From memory I believe some people have had issues with water getting into the motor or at least it’s ecu. Might be wrong but worth a look if you can
Thank you, yes will have a look, it's still under warranty so will go that route if I need to of course, luckily it's not a full camper conversion so quite easy to get to stuff.

Not sure how receptive to conversions VW are for warranty work. Probably not at all!

Right, wish me luck, it's booked in to VW on Thursday. I've pulled the door card off to make sure none of my insulation or sound deadening is tangled up in the cables (it's not) and to check plugs are all secure (they are).

Soft close motor appears to be dead but I'll be very embarrassed if it's a fuse somewhere (that I haven't been able to find).

Pic of naughty motor and the gibbons it's supposed to be actuating:

Edit: yes I know the gubbins isn't plugged in when I took the photo 😁

What I could really do with knowing is if the soft close function has a fuse, suspect it doesn't ... everything else is working.

So apparently it's the door control module which I think is above the rear wheel arch near the sliding door motor. At least it wasn't just a fuse!

Will know more tomorrow when I get the beast back hopefully.

I now have a 16 mile old VW T-Roc on my drive.

T-Cross not T-Roc ...

FFS van still broken, now it needs another part ... don't know what it is, they assure me it'll be done by 12:30 tomorrow. Was going to kip in it tonight as well, piss up in a brewery, now I'll have to drive back after one beer. Sad face.

Still broken. Can't or won't tell me what's wrong with it, can't tell me if the second new part came or has been fitted. Are they incompetent I wonder?

OMFG still not fixed, but at least they're quite good at updating by phone. Sounds like they've replaced the door module, now they're waiting for the soft close motor to arrive (tomorrow).
