Hi,

Does anyone know if the sliding door mechanism is interchangeable with a slightly different part number, specifically the 2 letters at the end of the part number.

My current part number is 7E0843653BS but I’m seeing ones which end in 2 different letters for lesser prices but they look identical.

Could I use a different iteration of letters and the end?

Thanks

I've found similair information online, and the popular AI chat says the same, but prompts caution as previous part numbers may not be compatible, so still a little unsure wether to roll the dice on a different part number and save some money doing so

Thanks for the reply

Hi did you get anywhere with this I have the same issue with my 7E0 853 643 BS
I can find ones with BQ much cheaper
I’ve worked out BM is for manual so they’re no good
Thanks

A little research seems to suggest the BQ has a child lock so I’m thinking It would possibly fit. If anyone can confirm that’d be great

Hi,

In the end I found a second hand part for a reasonable price on the popular bidding website, so I had a direct swap with matching part numbers, that solved my issue with intermittent locking.

What problem do you have? I also had an issue with the OBD saying the sliding door was always open, which left interior lights on also, even after I swapped the lock, and proved it locked everytime, I found the ‘plunger’ style switch at the back of the door well was pressed in and had stayed in, I pulled that back out and lubricated it and since then it’s all good

Hi, thanks for reply, long story! The solenoid on the sliding door was intermittently not opening. It would always lock. Same as my last van. Cleaning the door contacts didn’t help. Persistent locking and unlocking, pumping the handle and the odd thump always gets me in! Current van also won’t open from inside. But this weekend I thought I’d take a look. Seems like the cable to the rear lock had stretched it was pulling but not quite enough. I partially fixed it by removing the bar attached to the handle, heating it up and twisting it slightly so that it rotates the reciever port just enough more to open the latch. Then I went into the lock mechanism and messed something up because now once locking and then unlocking the interior handle does nothing. If dig my hand in and pull on the latch mechanism the door obviously opens but it also somehow resets the interior handle to work everytime but only if the van is unlocked. Inside the mechanism there’s one spring at the bottom that I can’t figure out where one end goes, I’ve found 1 picture online of someone who opened one up where you can see the spring and both its locations (circled blue) but it attaches to a bar and another small rod that I don’t have (circled red) and most definitely didn’t drop when opening. So I’m giving up and buying a new one. Exact match is around £300 but the ones with BQ are cheaper, it seems like the only difference between BS and BQ is a child lock but I’m not 100% sure.

Just to add the sticker with the part number covers a screw and it was intact before I opened it therefore I don’t think anyone else has opened it, plus the bar couldn’t just fall out as it would be still be attached by the rod to another part that I have. so I’m convinced mine doesn’t have it. Nothing fell apart except for the spring I haven’t rebuilt it. But I’ve tried that bloody spring always round.

And thanks to who posted this original pic on a facebook page, as you can see it holds position when opened correctly.
