Sliding Door Fault

Hi,

Opened the sliding door the other day and it has become quite stiff. Managed to open and closs it ok but definitely had to put a lot more effort into it. Wasn't sliding open/shut like it normally does. Had a wee look around to see if I could spot what the issue was and I noticed these washers lying on the bottom run.

Couple of wee metal ones and this bigger white plastic one. I had a look around to see where they must have come from but couldn't see anything obvious. Anyone know? I'm guessing it's these no.longer being part of the sliding mechanism that's causing the issue.

I had this problem, failed sliding door gear.
Sorted by local indy garage for about £120 all in.

They look like the seals from the bearing on the roller and the bigger piece is the roller itself. Safe to assume that the bottom runner bearing has disintegrated.
Be careful using the door as the metal runner will scrape along the painted surface and rip the paint off.
You can buy the new roller for about £20 and it’s a 30 minute job tops.
There’s a few guides on here on how to do it.

Thanks mate, I had a look again and it's definitely the roller piece that's away. I've ordered the part via the link you shared

Re the job, is it a two man job, need someone to hold the weight of the door? Looks like it's a couple of allen key bolts holding it on. Might give it a go if it's easy enough but the last thing I need is me to make an arse of it and the door fecked

Open the door but not fully then I just put a folded old towel under the door and held its weight with a bottle jack.
Draw a circle around the bolts with a sharpie or similar as they are slotted so you’ll keep the adjustment for the new part.
Then you remove the two bolts from the back of the actual runner that hold the stopper thing in place and remove that so the roller will slide out of the gap. Then swap roller and put the stopper piece back in.
Just a thought, Is yours a kombi with the release catch? Because it it is the part is slightly different and has the catch release on it I think.
Mine started life as just a van.
