Perhaps I should have said only totally opaque hose.
Whatever the problem was it was a corrugated flexible hose so water sat in the corrugations. I much prefer a very short hose direct to tap and removable cans. For a campervan with no toilet/shower etc I think this solution is more than enough
 
Our 20 litre can is semi permanent in the cupboard, it’s a pain to get out. We have an additional 10litre can that we use on-site (or anywhere else there’s a tap, cemeteries are handy :whistle: ) and we fill the “onboard” tank with the portable can with a jiggle syphon. This saves us having to move the van to fill up the water if we’re on a site for any length of time.

I thought the same but actually with the fill port you need a very wide hose to connect to it (40mm I think) and I think there are very few options that aren’t .
