My t6 Kombi 4 motion has just failed MOT near side front shock leaking, it is a TWIN ADJUST PROJEKT SENSITIV KOMFORT COIL OVER, AND IT SEEMS i HAVE TO BUY THE COMPLETE KIT OF 4, HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM IF SO IS THERE ANY WAY TO OVERCOME BUYING ALL 4
THANKS

If one has failed it’s fairly safe to say the opposite one isn’t far off doing the same.

They're sold in complete sets and no retailer will put themselves out of pocket splitting a set.

Contact the manufacturer in Germany, buy an entire set, see if any local suspension specialists can overhaul the unit, or revert to stock are your options.

Thanks Guys, will probably buy the set renew the fronts and see if anyone wants to buy rears

I had Bilstein B14s fitted 08/18 & they failed 10/21.
Less than 45000 miles of normal driving (majority motorway driving).
I went back to the supplier but they had stopped supplying Bilstein.
I contacted Bilstein technical UK to see if I the failed struts could be rebuilt.
They do not rebuild B14s.
They were no help whatsoever.
The van was off the road for over a week, waiting for parts.
Since then I have had two more front struts fail, two rear struts & two springs (one front, one back) with varying wait times for parts or fitting.
When the latest strut failed, I tried to find yet another replacement.
Nil stock, 4 week wait & the suppliers will not break into a kit, even though kits are in stock.
I think they drop ship.
I know several other transporter owners & they have had zero suspension problems.
Finally had enough of having my pants pulled down & went to CRS (as recommended by this forum but a 2h drive away)
I now have suspension that has transformed my van. It is not made of blue & yellow cheese and the difference in quality is clear. Like someone here once said, it’s not the jump in quality from stock to B14, but it is still better. It could be that Bilstein is a brilliant company that has produced a dud…but I do feel a tad stupid for having been so loyal, to such a poor product, for so long, despite the evidence. Very happy with my van now (I was beginning to lose the love). I’ve also driven it with the most sensitive measuring device ever produced (the wife) & the results were a significant improvement. Very grateful to Steve & Rob at CRS for sorting this mess out.

I'm running B14's and have had front damper failure (misting) on near side after 4k miles of ownership

- edit - ownership of the van, not the shocks -

(£360 for new single damper at that time) and then off side damper failed after 10k miles (£380 for new single damper at that time (last week)) i should have got them both done at the same time maybe but if one ain't broke etc.

I will say this, both dampers failed shortly after the van had been jacked up and I didn't have dust covers. I believe both times that the damper seals were fouled by foreign matter on the shocks so will always do my best to clean on and around the seal whenever it's jacked up to avoid this in future. I have dust covers on now that will make it difficult though.

I like my bilsteins and minus the damper issues I hope they last another 10k miles. Very comfortable.

That is abysmal reliability, If you are hoping for another 10K miles from the new than it doesn’t sound like you are too confident with them.
I’d be pretty pissed off if I only got 100K miles for that £.

Ermm... i was perhaps unclear. For new dampers I'd agree with you but these dampers came already fitted on the van so you are wrong to assume I only got 4k miles out of one and 10k miles on the other. Neither you nor I know how many thousands of miles they had already done or what sort of driver the previous owner was or how he or she maintained the van so your mild outrage is perhaps unwarranted pal. The van's done 80k miles and the dampers could have been installed from new, or the day before I bought it. I'll come back to this if and when the new dampers fail and we can reassess the quality of them okay? Okay 👍🏻🤪

Ok, I mis-understood, I thought the reference to the mileage had some bearing.
