Shark fin DAB aerial position

I’ve had a quick look but didn’t find anything definitive. T6, what’s the general thoughts on where to fit a shark fin antenna? Front or rear? Front would be more straightforward but feel it should go toward the back? Also the fins I’ve seen only have 5 metres of cable & I’m not convinced that’ll be enough for rear fitment?

I was playing around with a shark fin arieal before I opted to paint my existing one. The trouble with the shark fine one is it never sat correctly on the front profile flush like the one on my van.
Would cause water ingress because of it.
The rear of the van on a flat surface would probably be a lot better for it I reckon.
Speaking as a t6.1 owner though.

Thanks guys, did you find 5 metres of cabling was enough to route through and down to the back of the head unit?

Usually phantom powered, so along the coax cable and no other power feed needed.
Most headunits (including Discover Media) will support phantom power.

Guys, has anyone colour coded their shark fin? Does it harm the reception at all have you found by keying the surface, priming and top coating?

My shark fin on my previous audi was colour coded from factory so I would say no.
To add to this, I colour coded the roof antenna on my t6.1 and this as not effected the reception either.
As for prepping, I followed a few videos on YouTube on painting plastic trim.

Fitting the antenna today as it's a beautiful day here (for once, it seems! lol). Decided to go at the rear of the van the end, whats the preferred cable routing to the front.....to the left and forwards, or to the right and forwards? Sliding door only on the left if that makes a difference. Is there a preferred/easier route?
