We are driving through Spain at Easter. We're gonna visit Salamanca, first stop after Santander. Any suggestions on decent campsite? Just 2 of us, no kids just need decent spot with access to town if poss. Thanks

Most sites mid Spain are quite baron and unimaginative, get park4night app. Beware of off grid camping they love their fines too..

Certainly when we there in June/July, I totally agree with you. The one we stayed at in Salamanca was like that, albeit perfectly acceptable.

We stayed at Camping Don Quixote on our way back up to Santander last August, which is about 10-15 mins drive outside of the centre next to the river.

It's a nice, clean site with a pool and restaurant and good facilities.

Took a taxi into the city to explore in the evening and it's stunning to say the least in the streets around the cathedral and near the university.
Lots of places to eat and drink near the Plaza Mayor.

Our only problems came on the morning we left when a huge thunderstorm hit the area and we had to endure our van being pelted with 50p-sized hailstone!

We loved Salamanca. Did you go up to the top of the cathedral? We were in the bell tower when the bells sounded. Nearly shit myself.
