RIB Slider bolt measurements

Hi all.

I have bought a RIB 112 slider but it didn't come with any pre drilled holes other than the two that go through the Kiravans support above the spare wheel. I have had a look on the Kiravans website and in particular the technical drawings. They have two holes drilled for a non slider, one at 80mm and one at 130mm, both are dependant on what size rear cushion you have. The slider diagram has the holes drilled at 100mm but the note above states it will be drilled as a non slider.

Can someone with a RIB 112 slider please measure the distance from the very front of the bed frame to the centre of the holes drilled. I have spoken to @xpfloyd and he has clarified it is 130mm on a fixed but I'm wanting to check with someone who has a slider version.

Hi all,

I note this thread was never fully answered. I have a similar question. I’ve got a Rib 112 slider and I’m thinking I’d like to mount it so that when the seat is back the rear cushion is snug on the tailgate. Then when I slide it forward the kids will be a bit closer for travelling and I’ll have more space in the boot.
Clearcut conversions said they fit them with the rear cushion snug when the seat is forward, the opposite of what I was thinking.
I haven’t looked at the fixing potential for either position yet but wondered what others have done?

I'm not 100% I'm following, but have you looked at the Flux system that Uberbus do?

Here's my SWB with the seats right forward. This is actually slightly too far forward for the kids, but I was using the van as a van (see accompanying picture of me moving 6 large office chairs) . Pushed back the back cushion is nearly to the tailgate - remembering that the Rib has a double back cushion when upright. Does that help?

That’s a nice set up and obviously gives great flexibility. I had seen that Uberbus had developed a rail system but it doesn’t come cheap!
I probably didn’t explain that well but when I referred to the rear cushion being snug to the tailgate I meant with it in its horizontal position like a parcel shelf. So I was thinking of fitting with it like that when it was slid back and then when slid forward there would be a gap at the rear.
I don’t really want the expense of floor rails. Also I’ve bought the slider seat now!!

Gotcha! I understand now. Yeah, the rail system is mad money. We also looked at it on a 3 seater rear seat but that was proper crazy. With it for us as it was the only way to get the setup we wanted without going LWB and we can't park a LWB outside our house.

If there is no practical reasons against t it, I think the setup you describe makes sense. We had a minor problem with our rails at first and we couldn't bring the kids seat forward for about a week. I know that it is whatever you are used to, but we didn't like them being that far back

When you say yours is set up like that, do you mean as I’ve suggested I would like mine? If so have you been happy with that set up? It seems to make sense to me.
I’m ok for measurements I think. I’ve got the seat here, I’ve had a look and I think it will fit nicely where I want it. The front mounting points are quite tight on the cross member but looks like it should just fit. The added bonus of that is that I can use an L shaped bracket similar to the Kombi ones and rivet it to the cross member for extra strength. Not that I think it necessarily needs it.

I have my rib fitted as if it was a fixed seat, with the slider fully back it is tight up against the tailgate. You can then move the bed forward into the middle of the van if you want your children nearer.

I fitted it using the Kiravans kit but had to drill the additional holes in the front piece as the bed came without any.

That’s exactly how I intend to fit mine. I’ve had a look under the van and it looks like it should fit.

@Thehawks I remember thinking that the measurements to fit the rib bracket could afford to be slightly larger, as in 225mm from the chassis as opposed to 220mm. I had to use a slightly different washer that I made for the top of the bed.

If the bed you made hasn’t got pre drilled holes in the front part then I recommend using 4mm thick treated metas as to not crush the box section when doing up the bolts.

My seat has the holes pre drilled in the front with an additional bit of plate welded in, presumably to prevent the problem of crushing the box section as you suggest. I’m hoping I can utilise those holes rather than having to drill more.
Interesting what you say about the bracket being slightly further from the chassis. Is that the distance of the rear bracket from the chassis cross member that you’re referring to?
I haven’t attempted to fit mine yet as I haven’t got the furniture in. I ordered the seat early so that I could eye everything up before fixing anything in place.
