Reverse signal for dashcam rear view

Where can i connect the rear camera activate ( 12V reversing light ??) Signal for rear view mirror type dashcam.
 
I used the green cable running down to the light cluster at the back of the van. Worth testing it with a multimeter first though whilst the van is in reverse to make sure you pick up a 12v feed.
 
I have just connected one of these to said Green and black cable running into the reverse light, I have an issue now that the reverse cam won't stay on, it comes on momentarily, then flicks off, on, off etc. All connections are sound, I'm thinking a lack of power? Anyone have any thoughts or way around this?

First thing I would do would be to check and make sure that Byte 11 Bit 4 is deactivated(unticked) in 09 BCM.
 
Ah OK, I don't have it unfortunately, but if I ever get chance to I will, does that supply 12v to the light then? Thanks for the heads up

Yes it does provide 12V DC which could be PWMed( pulse width modulated).
Alternatively if you don't have VCDS you could use this signal as a trigger to a relay and then bring any fused ignition 12V from the fuse board.

I fitted some parking sensors a few weeks back. I used the green reverse light from the rear light cluster, I had issues with the sensors so I wired a 4 pin relay in with a permanent supply to the relay.
Works a treat now.

What relay did you use mate?
 
any 12v automotive relay will work, you just need to use the reverse signal to trigger the relay then you can run a clean 12v supply through the relay to the piece of kit that you are trying to control

Thanks Pauly i have one connected but it buzzes with the LED rear lights but not the OEM halogens, any ideas?
 
Bit of a resurrection of this, I have had a chance to look via vdcs but can't seem too find
