Please forgive the potentially dumb question - first post here, but long time lurker. I've not done anything with car electrics for over 10 years since I broke the wiring loom on my BMW installing a Parrot kit 10 years ago!
I've just picked up a T6 2018 with a MIB 2 stereo with MirrorLink/CarPlay/Android Auto. It says on the spec sheet it had MirrorLink, so I'm assuming this is the original stereo. It previously had an Alpine unit in it.
When I went to plug in the USB in the dashboard, the phone didn't charge. Low and behold the module just isn't connected and I think this is non-standard and has been modified for the Alpine unit:

There are no cables visible in the gap behind (I even got my endoscope down there for a good hunt around.)
Am I right in saying there should also be a USB in the comfort dash, because it had comfort dash from the factory? Or was that an optional extra on top of the comfort dash? The 12v works fine. (There's a blanking plate above the 12v).

The yellow connection on the back of the stereo is for USB isn't it? The only problem is I can't see where the wire goes to. it's wrapped up with the rest of the cables and disappears off behind the dashboard toward the steering wheel and I can't locate any loose wires behind the stereo anywhere.

I'm assuming that's the original cable... so I could just buy a new one that goes from the module to the usb in the dashboard? Or in this setup does that cable go somewhere else that I'm meant to connect to instead, e.g. a shared module or something. (Part # 5Q0035726E with the cables from eBay is about £25-£30.)
Thanks in advanced for any guidance!
