Rapid Indicator Flash

Hi everyone, im new to the forum
i have a 2016 T30 SWB Kombi
So my transporters lights all work And indicators but as soon as I flick the indicators on the bulb fault light comes up and they start flashing fast but only on the dashboard, the indicators external flash at normal speed
Garage Ran a diagnostic today and showed no issues, they reckon it could be the flasher unit at fault?
Any help would be much appreciated cheers

OK so I have checked rear bulbs and side repeaters and none of them have been changed to LEDs
I have attached photos of the headlights, the indicators in these must be the issue, but what is causing the rapid flash on dash and bulb fault light?

Have the bulbs been changed to LED?

We had the same with ours after adding led indicators and led rear lights . It was fine with one or the other but not both .

I don't think anything has changed with the bulbs

Had this on a guys T6 the other day (he is a forum member), i coded out all his bulb warnings via VCDS but the dash still flashed fast but externally everything was OK. he had LEDs all round.

There was a towbar fitted on the van before I got it but it was removed and was in the back of the load area, spoke to a tow bar fitter and he suggested that if it was a universal wiring box then this would be the issue as the vehicle is still looking for the trailer lights?
He said if it was a genuine VW wiring kit it wouldn't do that
He suggested I take off one of the rear lights and open it up to see if they have put connectors onto those wires for the towbar

well this would create a load on the indicator circuit if they have piggybacked the wires.

I can't remember if the guy i coded had a towbar.

I doubt your issue would be caused by an aftermarket trailer wiring black box (unless it is faulty). If there is no trailer plugged in to the trailer socket it just does nothing. There should be a power feed to the black box, which you could just disconnect to test.

If it has a genuine towbar ECU module it should be located under the drivers seat. This is part of "towbar prep"
By removing the fuse, you may end up with a fault code.
When the towbar was removed, what wiring was removed. There should be a loom that goes from inside the back pillar to the towbar socket.
Even without the towbar installed the genuine ECU is smart enough to know that there is or isn't a trailer connected.

On the website it has the installation insructions etc. so you may need to "undo" some of the installation steps.
I doubt there will be coding because it is not a geniune module and therefore not recognised.

You may also want to check that the van has satndard bulbs and not changed to LEDs, because that is sounding more likely

Do you mean a change to LED indicator bulbs or any LED bulb on the van?
The near side side repeater has some condensation in it could that be the issue?
That side repeater works perfectly, all the lights externally do

Hi Do you have a photo of the load resistors fitted for the indicators?

I fitted some of these -

Plug and play , just remember they are designed with a heat sink on them so cable tie them somewhere where they can't melt anything.
