Rad fan replacement

Alright guys
Have a t5.1 and when the rad fan is spinning down it sounds like a steam train in reverse.
Been quoted £926 for the fan alone and told it’s a dealer only part.
Looking myself I can’t seem to find one other than on eBay and my van only has 105k on it and there’s no telling what a scrap yard one might have.
Any ideas?

Who told you it was main dealer only and quoted you the equivalent of the ‘National Debt of Guatemala’. Was it by any chance the main dealer. .

Obvs I don’t have your reg, but surely you must be able to get a ‘copy cat’ part. Sometimes, agreed the high street motor-factors don’t sell them, but usually a google will get you sorted.

What exactly has failed on the fan, the dealer will just want to renew a lump when it maybe possible to repair or replace a sub component.
There must be plenty in the breakers even allowing for front end collisions.

I have seen some on eBay but mine is a 2010 t5.1 only got 105k on it so my thoughts are mine probably in better condition than the ones from the breakers
