Quick Query About A Roof Top Shelf.

Hi.

Has anyone (without a California) bought one of these?? Does it fit a normal veedub??
I know a lot of California stuff can be used in a Kombi so I am wondering if this is one of these things.

VW California Roof Shelf – FABVWFSHELF – Everything VW California

We are going to have an Austops roof if that makes any difference. We are quite keen to get something to put stuff on whilst we are sitting or sleeping in the roof space.

Thanks for any replies.

My Austops roof has a ledge there anyhow as part of the frame. It’s enough to rest the iPad, a cuppa or a phone or two.

Oooooooooooh, that is brilliant. Thank you very much for that information. It's hard to see pictures of the austops roof in detail (well, I am struggling to find them).
Thanks.
:)

I was looking through my phone for one but couldn’t find one from the roof that showed the picture. Gimme 10 mins, and I’ll partially open the roof for a photo.

That would be amazing thank you.

We do a few festivals and my husband quite liked the idea of sitting in the roof of the van with the scenic canvas open watching the crowds but we need somewhere to put drinkies.
:D

Ah, mine’s not a scenic canvas (wish it was!). Worth checking with Austops whether the frame proportions are the same.

sorry about the rubbish photo but it’s raining so I only popped it up a few inches. There’s about 8cm along the front edge and quite a decent space at the corners.

I was thinking of buying one for my Cali so I can them copy them at work using the CNC routers

Awesome spaghettiboy. Thank you for the pictures. Hopefully they are the same basic roof but just with different canvas attachments.
The shelf looks pretty much perfect for drinkies and a couple of phones.
:)

We took a piece of plywood 150mm wide, and carpeted it to use as a shelf so we can put our clothes ottoman up in the roof if the weathers inclement, and then store it in the back when not needed it easier for us because we don't have a bed up top

Did the ply thing like Peatey
Reimo pop top no bed so used the recess the bed would sit in above rear seats
2 bits of 18mm ply the width of recess and 250mm deep and carpeted to match
Hinged together so they fold up
there is enough room when the roof is down for the just to sit there out the way folded
Bags on back seat stop roof up fold out shelf bags on shelf out the way
Made one for the front as well TV bracket hangs off it
Will post pics if it stops raining to put roof up

i haven't forgot to post pictures as promised it's either to dark or raining to put the roof up to take them with the shelves in place

Nae worries Bargy. I am not pushing anybody or anything.

It's looking really good. We are planning on putting USB points in the rear view mirror cubby hole so that we can charge the phones if we choose to sleep upstairs without long cables being needed so that wee shelf looks ideal.
:)
