Pop top bed board

Evening all, is it possible to replace the pop top bed board once the pop top os fitted. The van we are looking at has a very thick one in place and would like to remove and replace with a thinner one with a spring matress built in.

Ours was removed after fitting to do the carpet lining.

I'd guess it's possible on others.

It's a standard skyline we have fitted.

Is your skyline a scenic? Or is it fully sealed and the bed board came out through the van?

It is a scenic but the board came out the barn doors.

It's just screwed/bolted in at the back. Plus the gas ram thingys.

These boards are thick for a reason.
They need to span the width of the van without any supports.
How thick is your bed board?

47mm is a beast! Mine is 18 mm poplar ply.
