Pop-Top surround carpet lining

While I’ve got the pop top bed out to fix I thought Od carpet round the pop-top surround. I never got round to it the first time round. So the question is: to get a nice finish, should I loosen the channel which is holding the tent down and start the carpet under there? Or just mask off and try to make it as nice as possible? Pics includes. It’s an SCA roof.

I wouldnt put any carpet under the trim. You will end up with water wicking/soaking in from the outside.

Cheers. Yeah decided against it after closer inspection. All done now. Bed going back in.
