So ,
Collected a 17 plate highline 102 today from main dealer,
9200 on clock and have full check report done nearly 3 months ago on 3 miles less.

Is it normal dealer protocol to sell vehicle, handover done knowing that the vehicle is going to need a service at my expense at 10000miles ? (Presuming thats when first service is due?
Hope im wrong
Fealing a bit anxious if im honest as its not had first service yet according to servivce book .
Should i be worried? Or is this perfectly normal

Thanks in advance

My first service was at either 24 months or when the dash said so which was 23500 miles. 66 reg bus
Thanks jim vee
Coming from a t4 i was a littel confused by the readout on dash computer on the t6 as it saying 10000 miles or 300 plus days

That’s probably about right on a 17 plate, almost a year to go. I had roughly the same so popped into my local dealer and they readjusted it saying someone initially set it up wrong so might be worth a visit but I reckon yours is ok.

Ahh great .
Appreccciate that jim
Fingers crossed all is good

my 17 plate van from new has 7000 miles on the clock, and bang on the 12 month anniversary came the notification for a service so I've booked it in to have it altered for another 12 months

Sounds like i was panicking over nothing then
Being a new ish van to me, i really thought a new vehicle would be due a service after a year or 10k .

I stop panicking now , once i can find out if they sorted any recall issues

I bought my van on 8200 miles. VW did a basic service for me before pick up. How basic basic is I don't know.

Eh? Mine came up with the service at 10,000 miles and 4 months old. I hope that doesn't say something about my driving.

There are two base types of service setups that VW can program into the van when its new, 1 year/10k or 2 year/20k but these can self adjust/vary to driving style/van activity

Mine was initially set to 1 year and when i took it too VW they changed it to 2 year

What does the first service consist of, oil & Air filter change and general check round maybe

Dropping off your keys and being told to make your own way home, then a call several hours later to find several new dents, scratches, kerbed wheels, an oily steering wheel, few marks on the seats, 78 extra miles on the clock, a McDonalds coffee cup in your holder, and a large bill, according to some stories I read.

You gota love a main dealer.

At least it's clean, and if you squint ever so slightly, you can just about make out the Goonies in the fresh holograms from the friendly car wash gang.

First service is an oil change and a screenwash top up. They give it a once-over visually and a wash with a gritty sponge. They will also do any service campaign updates if neded. Air filter isn't done for 4 years or so.

i know a lad who was working for me and met his own car (mercedes) overtaken and being thrashed by a spotty face mechanic when he was on the to collect it following a service, the garage said we will bring it round for you sir, he said dont worry i will stand on the front and wait it come down the road and see whos driving it, then you can stick your service bill where the sun dont shine

Brilliant.
There's actually several instances like this on Youtube, including a mechanic being caught by the owner driving through a McDonalds drive through.

Yeah mine wont be going to main dealer here, I like to use a local specialist who will do the work properly and not at a inflated price
