P0341 fault

Hi folks, I have a 2017 T6 CXHA. I recently replaced the intake manifold. Within a week I've had P0341 3 times plus EGR insufficient flow and a MAF code (cleared it and cant remember it). It's gone into some sort of default safe mode.

Cam rpm at idle mirrors the crank speed and the phase position sticks on 0.

I disconnected the cam sensor and the rpm dropped to 0. Both sensors have been replaced and I've roughly checked the timing and it seems good. The camshaft pin was a bit tight but it went in.

I've also sprayed some brake cleaner around the manifold and the other parts I took off to rule out an air leak. No increase in idle speed so that seems ok.

The main thing confusing me is the crank and cam shafts reporting the same rpm in ODIS.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Bear with me on this...

Managed to get the van running nicely last night and went on an 80 mile round trip, all was well.

Today, it was a 160 mile job. I got a few miles from Turnberry and it started to splutter and a few codes came up relating to the EGR, MAF and Crank sensor.

I carried on in the vain hope I could limp it back to Edinburgh with 4 passengers and their luggage. I had to get the revs above 2000 rpm and keep them there. I got to junction 6 on the M77 and the inevitable happened. DPF light and power slowly dropping. Fortunately I managed to limp it to a slip road before it choked itself to death.

£260 for a taxi for the passengers. 30 minutes later I'm recovered to Silverburn shopping centre by a local recovery company.

3 hours after that the AA show up. I explained all the codes and the rough running secretly hoping he had an EGR blanking plate. He did, hallelujah 🙌.

5 minutes later with the EGR blanked off at the front pipe I'm on my way under my own steam. The van didn't even go into limp mode on the one hour drive home. It even did a regen. The expected codes did appear but no EML.

Lesson learned, the EGR valve was either sticking closed or open. Today it stuck open and screwed me over. All these fault codes I've been chasing are related to a sticky EGR valve.

If you're running lumpy, planning a long drive, and suspect the EGR, take an M10 spline bit with extensions, blanking plate and a T25 or T30 to move the washer fill pipe for easier access. It might just save your day.

Guess what I'm doing on Tuesday 😡

Had the egr replaced today and it looks like the valve seat has just dropped out the old one. Not too badly coked up. I bought the old one on ebay from Parts in Motion, we'll see how good the one year warranty is. I now have a genuine VW egr at £1360.
