Feel free to post on instagram and tag us, we'll repost as I'm sure there'll be someone in the area that can help.Is there anyone in the Canterbury/Kent area who has an Ovano (XL or Narrow) they'd be willing to let me have a look at please? I'm almost certainly going to go for the narrow due to the extra length on the side but wanted one up close and would rather not drive to Bristol twice... Ta
Understood. Thanks Josh, I’ve already been to Combe Valley but the unit they had was in the showroom, I’d really like to see one in a van if possible. I want to work out how much room there is in the wheel arches and between the Switch and the Kombi seats, etc
Hi Josh, thanks for your answers I’ll try to give you guys a call tomorrowUnderstood.
I can confirm the base unit of Switch XL is 1200mm, and so everything outside of that is usable space above, in front and behind the wheel arches. On the narrow the base is approx 850mm and positioned nearly as close as possible to the drivers side wheel arch, leaving a gap of approx 350mm to the lefthand arch.
As for the gap between the unit and the kombi seats, at floor level you have 180mm, however this gets narrower higher up to the seat and the rake of the seat. Let me know what it is your thinking of storing down there any maybe I can help find the answer.
I appreciate the dim's aren't quite the same as seeing it in person, but by all means give us a call and I can run through with a video if it would help?
Could you fit a fridge on the left hand side of the narrow ovano unit. Like the transporter hq apicol one. Has anyone done this as it would be great for a rear kitchen.Understood.

I'm afraid it would only be one of those tiny little can coolers you'd get down the side. I tend to use the drawer for my fridge as it fits a treat and gives you top access which you wouldn't have if you tucked it under the bed on the left hand side.Could you fit a fridge on the left hand side of the narrow ovano unit. I've only just spotted this sorry, but yes you can certainly add another dimension of locking to the bulkhead. We've done it once before for a guy running a production company who had £KKKKKK's worth of lenses and cam equipment. Essentially you can screw in some D-rings or similar and use carabainers, shackles etc to clip the roof. You can buy nice stainless ones that then still look nice. It would make it a nightmare for anyone to get into as they wouldn't know what or where was holding it in place. To be honest, even without the locking mechanism I've had a few customers now say that they had the bulkhead up whilst being broken into and the thieves couldn't figure it out.Can anyone give any thought to security on the ovano / cadco systems?
I’m going to get one for my Kombi soon - but want to look in to a way to lock the bulkhead in place when I’m keeping my kit in the van on jobs. At the moment I love having full bulkhead in along with deadlock and anti drill bits on my barns as I don’t have any worries about people getting in.
As I haven’t seen either system in person it’d be good to know the following
How secure are they in bulkhead position, and do they lock / need unlocking to take it down.
Would it be practical / easy enough to add some kind of locking mech or adapt it so you can fully secure the bulkhead meaning it can’t come down unless you have access from the load area to unlock it etc.
Edit - I also don’t want to add a deadlock to my passenger door just as it’s faff and makes it look more like there’s stuff to nick in the passenger area
Cheers in advance
It’s a 2man job to install although the second person is mainly only required for lifting into the van . You can separate the top part off I.e the bed /bulkhead surface but it’s still quite heavy and awkward to lift on your own .I am definitely ordering an Ovano soon but really cant decide between the Narrow and Wide. I understand the pros and cons to both but cant make a decision. When its delivered prebuilt im assuming its at least a 2 man job to install or can it be separated and done by 1?
Does it become pretty difficult to access the lever on a triple bench to flip the seats forward? I may need to add an extension onto that or something to make it accessible
