Ovano & Cadco Configurations

I'm suggesting a dedicated thread for those of us to discuss, share and critique one another's OVANO & CADCO day van configurations.

There's often a sporadic post/picture across other threads but a single thread could be useful.

Our T6 Kombi is the family daily driver but I would like to configure the drawer in a way that it can be used for kitchen, cooking and occasionally hauling cr&p from one place to another.

Before I fire up the plunge saw and router I would be really interested in knowing how others have configured theirs, what works, what doesn't and they plan to do in future.

I love my ovano and can’t think of any way of improving it for my needs! Work van during the week hauling tools and materials and day van on the wkend chuck a mattress in and a throw away bbq and away we go! Before I had this the van was a mess tools everywhere never could find anything now if I don’t keep it organised it doesn’t fit!!

Nice one @Chippie1

I'm slowly migrating from T-Stak to Toughsystem, the Ovano wears yours well!

I'm no longer a chippie but still have an unhealthy obsession with DeWalt and their 54v range!

I'm interested in creating some plywood dividers that can be adjusted to accommodate things, for example an Anker/EcoFlow Solar Generator, a hob etc. but I'd never be without my Weber Go Anywhere either!

I’m a makita man myself but the tough system 2.0 is a great bit of kit for the money!
Yes maybe some dividers would work for your needs il watch this thread with interest

Not seen that make of folding crates @murphyabu they any good? Have you had solid ones previously to compare?

Th folding crates were a chance buy from Costco prior to the CADCO being bought. By chance they happen to fit snugly in the drawer, but, they are a tad flimsy and I wouldn't want to put too much weight in them, handy for groceries, odds n sods

Sorry to jump in on this but does anyone do one of these that fits the Shuttle off the peg? Looking for one to go in behind the 3rd row seats….

Thought I'd add a few pics....

Ovano XL SWB.

Forty winks mattress.

But needed to add a extra self inflating mattress.

Can anyone advise the difference between the Ovano & Cadco systems? There is a bit of a price difference but the systems look very similar. Will definitely end up purchasing one but unsure which one yet.

Design wise they look extremely similar.
I suspect that you’ll not find that many people that can compare, however all I can say is I’m very happy with the Cadco and utilising it most weekends at the minute!
Quality is very good, draw and runners are a very good fit and generally the system works for all jobs.
I was particularly happy with the latching system for when you use the full bulkhead. The Ovano uses paracord, where as the Cadco uses a latch mechanism.

I too have the CADCO,
Can't comment on the OVANO system (I do have their table) I would have liked to but felt it was too expensive for domestic use.

I bought my CADCO second hand from a sparky who had it a couple of years

The CADCO is great, very robust, in fact I loaded the base drawer through to the second row with three acrows and loaded the removable single seat on top too.

That load didn't phase it all, the latches are very good, while the paracord on the OVANO looked smart, the latches give a good solid, positive lock too.

Used it several times with the bulkhead up and down, my one needs to be routered around the seatbelt runners and at the top to help with handling it, but at the moment that's the only grumble I've got!

Thanks for the info. We, too, have the Ovano table but like you can’t seem to justify the price for their bed system for recreational use.
I’ll be making my decision very soon

what are the Ovano's like for noise ie rattles etc when unladen. I have a Kombi and enjoy having a relatively car like drive (be even better when i get round to sound deadening and insulation)

anyone notice any creaks from the wood or rattles from the hinges?

Hi. I’ve never noticed any additional noise from the Ovano. I remember buying it and asking similar questions. I was then shown a number of ‘touch points’ where they had fitted a very fine layer of fabric to reduce any squeaking. I was impressed that they’d thought of this.

Hi all. I've got a Ovano Switch XL that I purchased secondhand a couple of months back. The drawer runners had play so I purchased some new ones from Ovano and fitted them, I've been really impressed with the build quality of it so far, in the last couple of weeks its become really creaky when cornering and over bumps though, I added the side supports too but still no difference. sounds like its the play on the runners. Anyone else experienced this?

Out of interest.

How match were the new draw runners?

Can anyone give any thought to security on the ovano / cadco systems?

I’m going to get one for my Kombi soon - but want to look in to a way to lock the bulkhead in place when I’m keeping my kit in the van on jobs. At the moment I love having full bulkhead in along with deadlock and anti drill bits on my barns as I don’t have any worries about people getting in.

As I haven’t seen either system in person it’d be good to know the following

How secure are they in bulkhead position, and do they lock / need unlocking to take it down.

Would it be practical / easy enough to add some kind of locking mech or adapt it so you can fully secure the bulkhead meaning it can’t come down unless you have access from the load area to unlock it etc.

Edit - I also don’t want to add a deadlock to my passenger door just as it’s faff and makes it look more like there’s stuff to nick in the passenger area

Cheers in advance
