Hi all,
We've seen the question rgearding whats sets us apart a lot, so thought it might be helpful to offer some insight from our side as the original makers of the Switch system that it appears all the others are now based on.
There are a number of similar-looking units out there now, and while some are clearly (influenced

) by our early designs, there are a few important differences that separate them from what we do.
Over the years, we’ve made a series of refinements that improve strength, durability, and usability in ways that aren’t always obvious in photos:
- We use stabiliser brackets to improve rigidity across the frame.
- Rubber dampers are built in to prevent drawer rattle while driving.
- Our flap hinges are marine-grade stainless steel (most use zinc-plated, which don’t last as well and are prone to snapping).
- The bulkhead is held with Dyneema-cored line – lighter, neater, and significantly stronger than flimsy toggles, especially in an emergency stop.
- We’ve completely removed toggle clamps, which are prone to snagging on kit. The latch system is now simpler and easier to use.
- All cut edges are varnished, not just raw ply. Might sound small, but it helps longevity and gives a far more finished feel.
We build everything in-house, and support doesn’t stop at checkout. If something does go wrong (rare, but possible with mechanical stuff), we’ll actually sort it – not deflect or blame the user. Please do checkout other posts or our Google reviews for verification on this, but we take customer service VERY seriously.
It’s probably worth mentioning that we see Ovano as a brand, not just a product. That means we put a lot of focus on long-term trust, consistent customer experience, and developing new ideas carefully rather than rushing things to market. We’ve built a reputation for quality and support, and we’re proud of the number of returning customers and word-of-mouth recommendations.
Also worth noting – we now ship Switch FULLY ASSEMBLED. So if someone can’t get to us or take time off work, they can still get a unit delivered, and fit in under an hour from arrival.
Hope that helps explain some of the differences. Not trying to slate anyone else here, just setting out what we do and why.
If anyone has any questions, or wants to come view a unit, or even if your considering buying a second hand unit from somewhere on the forum and would like some advice, please do get in touch.
