Oil change.................... already?

Hi Everyone,

Please can someone help with the following

My van has covered 12350 miles and it is saying oil service required within 100 miles

But underneath that it says inspection due in 7700 miles.

this is confusing me as i thought the the oil would be changed at the inspection miles and not a separate service for just the oil.

Any help and advice would be great.

Thanks

First oil/filter change from new is at 12500miles.

So book it in for that.

Then just follow the MFD regarding long life services (18k / 24mnths).... or just do it as suits you.. ie every 12mnths.

The oil quality sensor can adjust the 'oil service" interval, and the "service" will be set for millage/time.

Hi all ... I’m sure this has been covered and I’ve had a good read from the ‘service ‘ sticky .... but wanting people’s opinions ...

My van is a 30-4-19 registered van . It’s done 9200 miles and the service indicator flashed up today saying 30 days until service is due and 97days for an inspection .

I’m guess the van was put in a 2 year service plan ? And just come up early due to shorter journeys in it ? What’s the inspection for ? And can I have the service and inspection done at the same time for more convenience?

The vw dealer where I bought the van from made a right c*ck up of a few things and I managed to get the first service for free out of them ( have a vw service plan agreement letter that I can use at any vw dealer ... or so they said ?!)

so would I be better getting them to keep it on it’s 2 year service plan or change to yearly ?

Thanks for any help , much appreciated :)

I`ve just picked up my T6 nov 2019 van in September and the salesman told me it will be on longlife service plan. But I wont be leaving it that long for a service. I will take it in on 10K.
The Inspection service is just the 2nd service after the oil service, or, the more expensive service but more items are `checked`!

Thanks for the reply appreciate it

but why on earth would the service be due in 30 days then another 60 days another service/ check ?!

Hi

I have the next two services free (came with the finance deal).

First was due in September, but apart from a monthly run of 25miles I am not using it. It was booked in but the dealership keeps cancelling and when it goes in I will have to pay for a loan van or wait outside for 2 hours (so a little hassle).

Do you think it matters of I leave it for another couple of months until things go back to 'normal'?

A couple of hundred miles over won't make much difference. (I've been k's over before and its not been a problem)

Is it the 12k 1st oil service that's due?

I had the same offer.

You can check the MFD to see what service is due.

Thanks, it's the second service, so three years in, I agree the mileage is negligible the time will be 27 months+ against 24 months I suppose.

I'm of the mould that a service should be done once a year.... Oil and Filter at least.. regardless of mileage or long life service schedules....

But then mines a keeper... so i'm happy with this method....

I use a local VAG specialist who use genuine VW parts to service so as not to void the warranty... and the dealerships have an awful rep around this part of the world....

As dellmassive says a couple of months over especially if you're not using it won't make a massive difference.... but try not to fall into the habit of doing that every year...

I'd have it done, if only to preserve a good service history, because there's no reason not to. I had a car MOT'd last week, no problem, they sanitised the interior when I dropped it off and again when I collected it. Apart from that it was a normal transaction and I see no reason why a service shouldn't be the same.

Mine is in next week for a full service, DSG service as it’s nearly at 40k miles, and MOT. I’d have it done

For the sake of the cost of a service, why give them wriggle room on warranty?!!

Can't seem to find if this has been discussed already.

I have a 2018 T32 150bhp 73k miles VW which every 300 miles the Oil Service Now warning comes up I reset the Service and it comes back after 300 miles (it only resets to 300miles) Oil was serviced on purchase not 2000 miles ago.

Anyone had a similar problem or know how to solve?

Spoken with them they are happy to test but alas they are 2 hour round trip.

I bought one of those carlycar things hoping that would help solve it but they are rubbish and don't really do anything.

Did they actually change the oil, as this might be the oil quality sensor bringing this on?
Have you checked the dipstick, does the level look correct?

I have a 68 plate VW T6 T30 which just had it's first MOT @ 3 yers old. I had an interim service done by Lookers Glasgow costing £180(incVAT) last October 2020.

I understand that there is a one year and two year service interval based on van usage. I converted it to campervan and use it only for social domestic and leisure purposes.

I bought the panel van at 5,000mls. The 1st service was done at 8,900 mls. It now has a mileage of 11,500. The garage are calling me to get a service done. What do I do? Get it serviced, which I think is the major one (second service), or do I wait until next year and get it done at 2 years after the first interim service?

Advice appreciated
