Well, I thought I would change my number plate holder on my T6 tonight, 5 minute job I thought... That is until I snap off the plastic screw! What a fu3k1ng nightmare.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to get it out?

Jamie.

Stud remover, easy out, or drill it very carefully working up on drill sizes until the thread breaks away inwards. You can get the plastic inserts so if you destroy that you can fit another.
My last van did not have them, after I asked the dealers to stick the plates on, until I could fit the German surrounds, when I pulled the plates off the inserts were missing. So I had to get some they just push in.

Plastic bolt & ally rivnut?
I would heat a thin screwdriver, sizzle it in and unscrew. Good luck however you do it.

+1 on the excellent heated screwdriver idea plus some wd40. Thats an Aluminium rivnut, Alu corrodes a grey dust instead of rust which is dry and locks in things threaded in it, even plastic. Even the easiest customising job can bite you in the bum and take a 2 minute simple job hours......

Thanks all. I'm sure this is an easy fix for most of you, but I'm not that mechanicaly minded. I really appreciate your help.

J.
