Nox sensor wiring

Hi, whilst poking around underneath my new to me van, I discovered the Nox sensor connection. Other than the fact it's open to the elements , the wiring appears to have been cut and spliced. Any ideas why ? It just seems strange for a fairly tidy 2019 van. Any ideas why the wiring may have been spliced? Many thanks.

Yes, normally on rubbery exhaust sensor cables.

But also had reported AdBlue cable damage..... It's more common than you'd think.

As said above, very likely to be rodent, or urban fox damage. The latest cables have soy based insulation, and are very tasty! It seems to be an increasingly common problem.
