Not As Bad As I Have Read!

so I know that most enthusiasts sites are aimed at issues and for people's help or advice but sometimes you wonder what on earth you have bought

Well today I had the pleasure of a motorway journey... 2 hours later i'd covered 100 odd miles averaged 52mph and (although I know not that accurate) averaged 48 mpg

The return trip was a little faster but I was happy with the almost 44mpg.

since I've had the vehicle I've covered around 400 miles but it' averaging 40mpg on the 2nd trip so I'm happy with that. Previously I've owned a land over discovery and used to managed around 35mpg on a run.

so hopefully this is a positive.

I guess the the fact it was just me in a shuttle did help a little..... but my LR used to be more fuel efficient fully loaded

I think you answered your own question with the fact you sat at an average of 52mph on a motorway.
I assume it was either really busy or you were in roadworks?

kind of... but we're talking M6 morning traffic so stop start / average speed cameras at 50 and 70mph so a mixed bag of driving not constant 52mph

If I drive at 60mph on cruise along the motorway I will average around 40 mpg. If I drive at 80 I average 33 mpg. Mine is a 204 DSG. But the point is 20mph slower gets me 20% better fuel economy. I must be getting old but I'm finding driving at 60 is more enjoyable and a lot less stressful.
Still have the odd relapse when I just can't resist burning off a rep racer in my Van.
