Newly bought 2018 T6 Highline DSG Panel Van - Few issues

Hi all, first post with my new T6!

I bought the panel van to convert into a Camper, sometime over the new few months. I'll share photos when that's in progress and done.

Really happy with the price and travelled 3+ hours to buy it from a private seller. These automatics are getting snapped up pretty quick when I've been looking the last few months. Milage doesn't bother me as I won't be adding much milage each year.

Sorry for the lens flare, really sunny today and it also needs another wash after the dust bath it's been through.

Issues/Questions

1. What is the part called that helps extend the rear doors?

I have 1 missing on the one door. I can't think of the name of it to find one online. Any links or the name of the bloody plastic thing would be great thanks!

2. Do all panel vans come with these plastic things as standard or is that DIY?

Not a problem just looks absoluty shit and I'm curious. Guess it's only a panel van though?

3. Anyone know what screw is meant to go in here and is there a place this can be stored other than loose under the passenger seat?

If this screw helps secure the whole thing to the van somewhere I'd like to get a replacement screw and put it back where it belongs. Otherwise I'll ziptie it under the passenger seat I guess? Any other better places to store it?

4. This plate is bent on the backdoor and the plastic cover for the door handle won't fit now with the plywood on.

More cosmetic than anything else but I sort of want it fixed as my kids have started playing in the back of the van :D

Is my best option to try and bend it back as straight as possible or order a new plate? Just wondering if anyone know what the part is called or where to find one? I didn't want to bend it back myself just yet if anyone had a better suggestion.

5. This is absolutly shit. Drilled a fat hole for some kind of communication radio or something and left it all in there.

The conversion company will sort this out I'm sure but anything I should be checking or worried about? I found a crimp on the battery where they cut the wire off. So it's been disconnected there at least...

6. Again part of a radio or something to hold it there...

I've unscrewed it as it's really sharp edges for my kids to be around. Any ideas to cover up the two screw holes in the plasic without replacing the entire housing?

7. Missing button covers

I've found some online so I think I can just pop new covers over them. Anything I should be looking for or concerned about?

8. Random plasic parts under the passenger seat

I found out what these were from after. The left one was the rear door handle cover that doesn't fit anymore. The two on the right are meant to connect under the passenger seating to guide it back in when closing the storage lid. But if it works without them on then do I need to replace them? What are they doing if the seat lifts up and closes fine?

9. What is the dangling purple cable?

Should that be there? What does it do? Shall I chuck it back up in the cover and forget about it?

10. More cables hanging down

These are by the passenger footwell. Chuck them back up? Any idea what they are?

11. The internal cab light switch to auto turn on when a door is opened doesn't turn off.

The cab lights come on when the door is opened, but when you close the door and drive it never goes off. If I manually switch the cab lights off and back to the auto turn on they stay off, until I open a door again. Anything I can check with that? No photos as it looks fine.

So thats all I've found so far. I've got a mechanic checking the engine and other bits this weekend. It's been good reading peoples posts in the forums and getting ideas. Just wanted to say thanks in advanced for anyone dropping suggestions and opinions. More posts to come soon!

1. Checkstrap.

2. No.

6. Fill the holes yourself with a suitable shade plastic filler, buy a used new panel, mor a SMART interior repairer could do an invisible job.

7. They should pop straight on. Presumably the PO had something fitted there so do a quick check for bodged wiring at the rear.

9. That's some kind of OBD connector. The PO presumably had something plugged in there...hopefully not a mileage blocker!

10. Something the PO has done. You'd have to follow them to see what he was doing with them.

As for the jack, throw it away and never use it.
It will either kill you or maim you.
Thats sounds like no fun at all. What's the recommendation for needing to change a wheel on the side of the road then? Any good alternatives?

2 they are aftermarket plastic blocks that hold the ply kit in place, quite common and find them on most work vans

3 the screw should be captive in the plastic and it’s used to fix the jack kit to the rear left wheel arch, often removed when lining/shelving out vans

8 the rectangle plastic trim looks like the rear door handle trim, the two identical plastic pieces are from the underside of the passenger seat base cushion think they work to aid fitment/alignment when closing the seat

Cheers Pauly, more pieces for the puzzle.
