So just splashed out on the Ross Tech hex v2 from GenDan,mainly because i still need to fix my lights(another story!) and also because i think it will come in handy in the future(well that's what i told the Mrs)My first question is(and there will probably be a few in this thread!)What sort of laptop do i need to make it work reasonably?I have a couple knocking around the house that are a 4 or 5 years old, would one of them do?

yes, they should be ok.

the software is free to download,

so download it a give it a go. . . .

I've had it running on laptops, netbooks, tablets etc etc . . . .

its not a very power hungry App / program.

.

looks like thats confirmed, any old crusty pc should work.

1GHz cpu, 1Gb ram. 100Mb hdd . . . . . . .

best advice for the very first thing to do . . . .

TAKE A FULL SYSTEM WIDE BACKUP AND KEEP A DOUBLE COPY OF IT SAFE.

if you mess something up in future, you can restore the OEM settings from it,

Going to do the full system backup and store it on a stick. Will this allow me to just get thing's fixed automatically or do i need to tinker around abit...ie i have a bulb light on after installing new headlights?
