new t6.1 MIB3? discovery media

hi i have a t6.1 reg October 2020.
i have had some rear speakers installed into my van.
they have been connected into the headunit (behind lower dash)
however no audio is coming out. checked with vagcom and the electrical test of rear speakers is okay and when headunit is powered on i get a slight noise from the rear speakers indicating they are doing something.
do the rear speakers need enabling or something?
has anyone else had this problem?

The rear speak functions needs to be enabled with VCDS...not sure if you can do it with anything else.
