New member old problems SOS

Good Afternoon

I have just bought a 2021 SWB T6.1 Kombi and I am very excited to give it the Soft Swamper treatment. I've got black, badges and grills ordered and now need a nice lower splitter and some swamper wheels.

Unfortunately I now have the dreaded SOS Emergency Workshop warning on the dash. It won't go off after driving, turning it on and off or by pressing the button and cancelling the call. I now cannot have access to the infotainment system and the rear camera won't display either so I have driven it to work in silence.

I bought it privately so it's now my problem, I have spent hours looking for the answer to getting it fixed. Has anyone know how to fix it and what it is likely to cost??

Looking forward to showing it off if and when it's fixed but I have really been out off after 1 week of ownership 😢

Hi Adam,

Might be worth plugging it into VCDS, Carista, OBDeleven or something similar to see what the error shows up as?

So I have a slight update, diagnostic tool shows no faults. The van requires a new SOS Module and this will cost £860 + VAT!!! However it appears that some magic can be done on software to delete it removing the error. I'm hopeful this will work. I will update so people who have the same issue can have some options to work with

Try vag coding in Leicester or NE vag adaptations. Both of these upgrade the basic composition media units to the discovery pro units and plug into the SOS module. This means that you get sat nav but the SOS stops working. But they code out the error message so it doesn’t appear aNd you have no warning lights

This is exactly what I am hoping my garage has done so fingers crossed for when I pick it up tomorrow

And how is it going now? Did your infotainment turn off and stays off also?
So it's not gone and I am living with it. The garage never came back to me. It's just a warning on the dash that you get used to. I think it needs someone to code it out

Iv had the same SOS problem went into my nearest VW garage today they want £140 to diagnose the problem !! I said about the small battery possibly need replacing that I read about on this forum was told needs to be checked 1st .. Iv also been thru the chats on here and one mentions just an update is required !
Also going back to the batteries the employee behind the desk told me that hundreds of batteries are waiting to be fixed and a lot of them have no faults ?

People have found several different fixes, which suggests more than one cause may be at play. Some have had success with new batteries, some have dickered with resetting the counters for the battery and fixed it, others the software update worked. To be fair to the dealer, which pains me, you'd be mighty narked if they delved in and and replaced the battery and that didn't fix it.

I swear I have no affiliation or get any monies for this but give Andy @ TT SPARES a call. My van was the guinea pig which he sorted with a replacement battery and coding. A brilliant guy. Depending where you are he can fit or supply. I was getting my glow plugs done the other day and he was showing me the rows of batteries he was shipping out to customers.
