Hi All

My first Transporter is arriving tomorrow lunch time. I'm nervous to say the least. I thought it was a 4motion but it's not. Does anyone have an opinion on whether I should be chasing for a 4motion?

Also have been sent the below video of it's underneath if anyone has any skills to spot any issues...

If you wanna go off road then yes the 4motion is best BUT it’s not a deal breaker. My old T5 was a fwd 1.9 and got me everywhere especially in the snow with M&S tyres.
The underneath of the one your looking at looks ok. Though I spotted an oil leak but think it’s wet from the rain. All in all looks good.

I was worried about getting stuck in wet grass on site to be honest... Also who buys tyres from Marks and Spencer? very posh!

Yeah I saw the wet bit at about 53secs in and thought it was water. Doesn't look like it's anything established. My driveway will reveal it quite clearly if it's oil hehe

Was it advertised and sold to you as a 4motion or was that your error?
A 4Mo would command a higher price.

My thinking is if it's not 4 motion, it's one less thing to go wrong ha!
Yeah, and less to maintain, and the van weighs about 200kg less. I don’t think most people need or use 4Mo. I’m the opposite, I didn’t want 4 Mo but the van that popped up for sale was a 4Mo. It’s helped me out on about 4 occasions over 4 years so not a massive deal I’d say.

My other concern that it looks lo have been lowered which is cool but I was wondering what would happen to the ride height as I gradually add more of an interior camper layout

Front wheel drive has been fine for me in almost 30 years of driving. I’ve been off road for camping and for work… a lot. Only just got my first ever set of mud and snow tyres so I’m unstoppable now! As you say less weight, less to go wrong but also better efficiency and quieter too. I think you’ll be fine.

It might not be happening... best insurance quote is £1400 a year... for the below

I've requested Howdens (A-Plan) gimme a bell tomorrow.

Forget online quotes. Get ringing round.
There’s plenty of info on the forum about the various specialist providers.

A-plan will surely beat that by a long shot. Do you live in central London or have to park it on the street?
With extra alarms you should still be way under that price.

My Brand New Sportline for the 1st year cost me £480 with Aviva. This year it went up to £1400. Howden price was £1080.
Go compare gave me £440 with One Call with loads of cover.
Best to shop around mate.

Howdens previously A-plan are working on a quote for me. I name dropped T6F and his tone changed to a slightly more positive one. Fingers crossed. Thanks for all your comments so far. What an awesome bunch you all are!
