Massive insurance hike

Ok so I thought £650 a year last year when I insured my on progress camper conversion was a good deal. Just Kampers where OK to deal with and very helpful as I phoned in all the changes that had been going on. However at renewal time oh boy what a shock. £1400 to renew same van p, same person, etc. etc.

So called Howden as lost of press and social media coverage. They would not even insure the van. Apparently using it as a daily commute and doing 25,000 miles a year was too high a risk!

Called Brentacre and wow same details and a quote for £1080. Still high but very happy with the cover so have gone with them.

Just saying it pays to shop around despite how good you think your quote is !

I'm with Howdens (Evesham) and use our T6.1 to commute to / from work along (no business use, which I'm happy with) and 14,000 miles no problem. Comes in at £530.

I can see that you’re from Portsmouth, not sure which area you live in but below are the Vehicle Crime rates:

25k a year in a camper is a massive red flag for most insurers. As is using it for commuting.
Campers and camper specific insurance is designed for occasional recreational use.
I would say you have got a very good deal at just over £1k.
