Lumpy T6 - Triggers Broom! Misfire & Vibration under 1500rpm.

Sorry for reviving an old thread... But just wondered if mapping out the EGR has affected the DPF regenerations at all? Darkside reckon this can't be done if you still have the DPF installed or it will clog. These coolers seem really unreliable and I suspect mine has gone, so cost aside seems wise to map it out but I'd prefer to keep the DPF.
I think it’s well proven that is not the case. DSD do market an empty DPF (off road use), the cynic in me says they have a batch sat in a shed to shift.
That said they also specialise in re-mapping, if the map is for higher output that requires a higher gas flow due to increased fuel consumption. The stock DPF isn’t designed for this capacity.

Hi all,

I have been looking at this thread and the conclusion was not great for the owner.
Had a similar issue over 2 years ago slight coolant loss from egr cooler over a few days and was replaced under warranty.
Having issue with vibration from engine and was told to do a compression test so dreading that and hoping for the best. It could be a faulty injector also. Symptoms no way near as bad bad as the van in this thread tho. Vw should have compression tested it when that fault occurred and maybe they did and didn’t want to tell me? Here’s links to logs I’ve taken at idle fuel pressure are all ok.
Could anyone have a quick scan of it? Not sure if you need an account to view these links? Log #869657

Picked it up tonight, circa 250 mile trip home.

New Piston no2
X4 new rods
X4 New rings
New main and rod bearings
New head gasket & Head Bolts etc
Oil and filter etc.

Bill was just over 4k, but that includes Ecutune Map at £449.

EGR is now mapped out and blocked off too!
Hi
Just reading through your post and I am having the same issues and at a loose end. Taken it to 3 garages and a specialist and they are all scratching their heads.
Misfire, lumpy at low revs and smoking like a trooper when cold. Error pointing at injector n1. That’s been changed and all injectors swapped around and still have same issue. Compression on cylinder number one check and a bit low but still ok apparently.
Did you get to the bottom of your issue?

Have a read all the way through, it was a bent connecting rod caused by a coolant leak on the EGR cooler.
If you are loosing coolant don’t keep topping it up and driving it.
If you’ve lost considerable coolant with no visible external leak don’t even turn the engine over.

Thanks for commenting. Yes I am not loosing any coolant that I have noticed

Have you checked the fuel consumption rate (MPG), brim tank and record mileage?
If injectors and cylinder compression are good it only really leaves incorrect engine timing and insufficient combustion air as possible causes.
