Hi for the past few days when I start the van it sounds ok, as release the clutch and either turn wheel and set off or reverse and turn it makes a horrible loud amplified vibrating type noise. Doesn’t do it when driving just at the point of setting off or stop to reverse does appear from cab that it’s from drivers side

it’s a 2.0 102 blue motion tdi (remapped 140)
Thanks booked in but really worried

thats a sealed system . . .

so if the level is LOW,

then it must have leak . . .

Best get it checked out. . . . . asap.

where did you take it?

what did they say?

how did they test it?

To a friend who’s a Vw van converter/ mechanic the only person I’d trust 100%. You could hear it when you turn the wheel more than half a rotation, not that it’s lucky but he’s doing the brake discs when they arrive so assuming I can get hold of the pump he’ll do it at the same time

looks like a fairly big job according to the Book . . you got AC fitted to the van?

No ac

Does this sound right ??
The pump not working and making the loud vibrating noise when wheel is turned
Not sure . . . Personally I've not had one fail yet.

You could always get a second opinion from the VW dealer... then when they confirm it let your local Indy guy do the job.

So turns out it wasnt the pump it was a belt that from to or from the alternator and the pulley was seized so it was belt on this that was making the noise, alot cheaper to fix than a hydraulic pump. Really pleased it’s sorted
