Loading music to SD card for head unit.

I've got the std 5" screen composition media system (I believe). 3 buttons either side and SD slot at the bottom.

Its 32GB, so that should be OK from what I have read.
I've formatted FAT32 as that seems to be the preferred.

How do you load up the music?
Does it need to be in a particular format, can it handle sub-folders, what file extensions?
My system sees I put the SD card in, then just totally ignores it.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.

I ripped CDs as MP3 onto my PC and copied across to the card. Did this for my old Skoda and they work in the van.

Thanks, were they in sub directories, or just in the route of the SD card?
The naming convention is not ideal for my music and the artists would all be jumbled up if I didn't use sub-directories, but if I need to then I have some work to do....

Formatted 32gb sd card again to Fat32
Loaded some mp3 music to route of card, so no sub directories.
Put it in van, and it knows I’ve put it in, then nothing.
Do you get an SD button on screen? How do you access it? Not used one before so I don’t know what ‘should’ happen, or if I’m just being a muppet!

Yes it accommodates subdirectories, I use one per album. Not really safe to navigate on the move though!
