Lazer R750 wide

I've been looking at Lazer lights for my T6.1. I've looked at the ST4 and R750 wide beam pattern over the Standard or Elite. Years ago I worked on a Rally Car team and we would mix a pencil beam with a drive lens on the spot lights. I don't want narrow beam of super bright light, which is often reflected of road signs so you can't see a thing.

What are people's experiences with the differences Between the Lazer lights ?

I have the ST4 Evo, zero questions over the legality (R750 is only legal if configured in a certain way withoutvthe E Boost function enabled, and I want to be above reproach as regards compliance with the law.)

Also being in my 60s I wasnt bothered about silly gimmicks such as the sidelight functionnin the 750.

Mine are relayed into the main beam as intended, with a secondary off switch. TBH during the summer Im rarely in the van at night so only flick the switch during GMT.

IIRC its a narrower beam than the R750, but still a long way from being a pencil beam. The spread is sufficient to cover the road and verges out to quite some distance. Its eminently usable and im very happy with them - I now have a fair idea what the residents of Hiroshima saw when Little Boy lit off!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm settled on the R750 Wide looking at the beam pattern. I don't go quick enough at night to need to see 1 km up the road. I'll post some images once I've got them installed to allow other to see what they think.

@Sasquatch, can I ask, do you have T6.1 with A/C, and did you remove bumper to fit the lights. I’m thinking of something similar. IIRC the 750 requires (or at least the instructions recommend) the bumper is removed to cut, as you have to remove some of the A/C compressor plastic shield too. I’m trying to be lazy 😁 and get away with taking the bumper off. 👍

Yes, 6.1 with AC, did not remove bumper.

Used a reciprocating saw set to its slowest setting and took my time. Some of the shield gets a trim but it's all accessible from the front.

I fitted my lights today, I decided to pop the bumper off as it only takes 15 mins and given the close proximity of the air-conditioning condenser
So I took the safe option. I cut the air-con pipe cover to accommodate the light and refitted it. The bumper been removed allowed me to ensure the wiring was secure and routed so as not to chafe.

Just need to go and try them out

Hi, I have just ordered a set of the Lazer R750 Wide lamps for installation into my T6. Our van has the standard halogen lights so this should be a big improvement.

I am going to be doing a diy install, and am happy with the mechanical side of things but the only thing I am unsure about is connecting to the signal wire for the full beam (I am not putting an auxiliary switch on dashboard).

What is the preferred way of joining the Lazer lamp relay signal wire to the headlight full beam signal wire?

BTW 10% off Lazer Lamps just now on “Beacons and Lightbars”.

I would add the aux switch so you can switch off the spot lights. Sometimes there is a lot of reflection off road furniture/signs or if there is mist etc. I just tapped into the high beam feed for the right hand headlight. I think it should be the white wire, but check with a multimeter first.

I used a multimeter to identify the full beam at the bulb connector and tapped in there. I fitted a switch under the bonnet on the battery compartment divider, in the event of malfunction etc I can shut them down without affecting the main lights.

Thanks Sasquatch and Camper_Chris. How did you connect the Lazer Lamp signal wire into the high beam signal wire? Did you splice it in or connect at the pin? Thanks

I use aircraft spec slices but solder and heat shrink is fine, i cut into the wire to the headlamp about 4' back from the plug. I followed the bonnet release catch pull cable to get the switch wire into the cab. Fitting the switch near to the lights switch in the cab.

Thanks Chris that is very helpful.

I’m all for seeing where you’re going but switching off the sun and reverting to low beam is going to severely hinder your ability to see where you’re going.
To much contrast.

Having built Rally cars for my living in the past, we always installed switches to allow the selection or de-selection of the auxiliary lights on the car. This always the driver the ability of adjusting optimal lighting for the road conditions.

Doesnt seem the be a problem for me or anyone else.
