A massive shout out to Lazer Lamps in Harlow. I sent an email on Friday morning to let them know that the main beam on my grill lights was not working and if they had any advice. 20 minutes later I got a call from Josh asking if he could pop in to take a look and would I be happy for him to do that?
Would I? Absolutely!
He arrived mid afternoon to discover that it wasn't a fault of the lights, the earth had been disconnected when the garage serviced the van and put a new battery in for me. The earth for the split charger had also been disconnected. Not only did he not want any payment, he is also popping back this week to put the newer version brackets on for me. I wanted to pay as it turned out the fault was not theirs but he was insistent.

Absolutely mega service and such a rarity nowadays.

Just as a point of order. Assuming you have a smart alternator, the lamps and split charger shouldn’t be earthed on the battery terminal.

mmm. Thats interesting to know. I have a 2016 so I assume it would be a smart alternator. Mine are earthed to the bolt that holds the battery in place at the bottom, not the actual terminal is it should be ok?
