Is there something missing from my tailgate?

On both sides of my tailgate I have these holes with nothing in them, should there be some sort of guideView attachment 153041

Yes there should be a locating/guide piece in there, I’m not with my van at the moment so will post a pic later of no one else does

Yes. There should be a rubber wedge in there

there should be a wedge shaped plastic guide block that seats into another block on the frame when the tailgate closes.
