Irresponsible Parking.

I ended up on this site tonight :
Glen Etive the Dirty Truth
That is one depressing picture, and from my own experience it's not just Glen Etive. I also know it's not just vans, it's allsorts - the problem (apart from the littering) is that responsible van owners and campers will get tarred with the same brush. Last year was the busiest I've seen it in the Highlands, but it had been getting busier prior to covid. At times last summer there were too many vans, a lot of which would normally have been abroad somewhere. I'd love to think when we get back to normal the Highlands will become peaceful and tidy again, but I'm not so sure, and I think any lifting of travel restrictions abroad might be too late for this summer.

I'm concerned this is going to result in camping and parking restrictions of some sort, the other side is I don't actually want to park up in my van in my usual spots if I'm going to be surrounded by others who are irresponsible, I don't use campsites but have never once left any sort of litter or waste behind, and I buy what I can when I'm there, I try and put some money back. I'm in the Highlands for hillwalking and climbing so I respect the land, I'm not going to spoil it.

I'm not sure if there's a solution....

Just a note on my terminology : I occasionally overnight up the hills in a tent which I call camping, when I stay in my van overnight I call it 'parking overnight',

There are sadly people in this world who really don’t give a toss and think the world revolves around them.
I call them, well let’s just say it starts with a C and ends in TS.

Selfish, inconsiderate and downright disrespectful.

Day by day the good guys are dying out and being replaced by ever more selfish tossers.

I live in Bournemouth/Poole, what I see on the beaches every summer sickens me, it used to be a rare occurrence but now it’s every sunny day.

I see them at festivals, only 3 days, by the end of day 1 they are wading in a pile of their own detritus, pissing on their neighbours tents and sleeping in vomit.

Or, as they call it: “home”!

The clean up after Glastonbury is apparently horrendous.
Strange that so many of the performers there lecture about inequality and the environment, then they leave all their litter and often the tent for somebody on the minimum wage to deal with.

Yep, sadly it’s mainly the youngsters who’s parents must just throw money at them. There are many festivals where the complete opposite is true, it depends on the target audience.
It’s enough to get a ‘WTF is going on’ out of David Attenborough!

One word ... Blinkered!

It is frustrating to see the filth being spread around by spoilt brats and they should be shot. But ... on the other hand, what exacerbates the problem is also:

All such facebook pages seem to be run by old frustrated gits who do nothing but spread negativity.

First of all the name - Glen Etive The Dirty Truth. Is it a porn movie to give it that name? That is a part of the problem that they are not doing anything positive. Call it - Keep Glen Etive Clean ... or something positive and I am sure it will spread a better message out.

If they are so worried, work with the council to keep the area clean and tidy. Figure out a solution and get it working.

Feeding the animals is not right ... but all the crap about people parking carelessly and causing accidents? - c'mon, give me a break. No sensible person is going to do 70mph on that road. If they do, they are twats of the first order. See a car parked on the side, slow down, pass by and go on your way. Phew! what is this world coming to with people who are unable to think and act on their own.

It boils my p*** to see such snobbery from people who have got a medium such as facebook to feed their ego and do nothing positive about a problem.

*** rant over ***
*apologies if I have hurt any feelings*

Hardly a rant! I agree, shouting from the sidelines, like a frustrated father living a life vicariously through his child, provides oxygen to the flames!

Nope, I'm pretty sure her facebook page is not exacerbating the problem. Nor is she a snob, she's utterly p*ssed off at the mess being left by visitors to the glen she lives in.
Having seen a lot of it the last few years, I don't blame her. She's picking up the litter, she's asked for help from the authorities, she's certainly spreading the message. If the facebook page title pisses anyone off, good, hopefully it'll make some sit up and take notice who wouldn't have otherwise.

Apologies, I should have explained that I haven’t viewed the social media postings (as F*ckbook is banned in this house.) I was supporting the “rant” about those who tut tut from the side, yet do nowt!

It wasn't in reply to you JOG. I'm not on F*cebook either - an online article linked to it. I don't miss what I don't want :)

If you feed the deers by the road does it encourage them to come back and not be afraid of the road causing accidents?

I have seen many similar pictures of campsites and festivals where tents have been abandoned. Having still got the tent my parents bought me for a scout camp the idea that a tent is a disposable item is still difficult for me to grasp.

I hope everyone will take the opportunity to go abroad this year when all this is over and give our beauty spots a breather. We are :)

About once a month I go around to the road that runs behind our garden with a black bag to pickup all the carp That collects on the grass there - if I didn’t do it nobody would

our kids would never Chuck rubbish out of a car window ....

why do so few people have so little respect for public spaces these days?
