Interior LED's Flickering

I replaced all the normal interior downlighting with LED bulbs and also the ones in the sliding door steps a few months back. All seemed good for a while but now a good few of them have started flickering. No flickering with normal bulbs when I put them back in (but of course not bright light from them).

I got the set from TransporterHQ. The connection seem to be solid between bulb and connections in the light holders.

LED's are supposed to last a lot longer I thought. Are these LED's just not long last or something else going on with the draw on power?

THQ’s premium ones don’t flicker in my experience. Cheaper ones do. Better light colour too.

You maybe able to change the interior light channels in your bcm with either long coding or adaptions.
But would imagine this being a long winded process
Quite possibly your bcm is now having a wobbly getting different resistance values from your leds as apose to the factory halogens.

I thought LEDs are supposed to last a lot longer. However I bough some G7 LED bulbs to replace the incandescent ones that had blown. Howeve some of the LEDs have started blowing an others flickering, but some of the incandescent ones are still going strong. (My parents had a filament bulb that lasted over 40 years (and with daily use as well).

I'm not seeing any fault codes show up in carista. I don't have VCDS.

Hi, you probably will not see any fault codes, but as you can see they are not functioning correctly.
Just trying to put a different spin on aftermarket leds that folk fit.
Most work for a short amount of time then go wonky.
This is only my suggestion and something I would do, is to get vcds or equivalent and go through the interior light channels. You maybe able to see what sort of settings that the lamp loads have been set to.
But appreciate that is is going to take some research and trial and error messing around with them to work correctly.

Sometimes they don’t pull enough current. Had a weird issue with a trailer causing double flashing fault when connecting to my old Landrover. Turned out the leds didn’t draw enough current to show as a normal incandescent lamp. Many hours of redoing earthing points and wire tracing before I worked that one out. Oh how I laughed!!!!!….

Our VW Up! Uses electronic tech from an older generation golf so pretty basic and the LEDs still went flickery.

I think its the LED lamps failing rather than anything with the electrics on the vehicle.

These ones I have are the THQ leds.
Not sure then. I swapped some harsh and flickery ones for the THQ ones and they’ve been great. Mine’s a very early T6 that’s got a lot of parts in common with the late T5.1, so perhaps the electrical system is different?

Was the led lights Genuine vw ones?

Most oem ones generally last a very long time.

You got it sorted in the end buddy, kudos 👏

Yeh. I had a T4 and did the same job on it of swapping the internal bulbs for LED's and they worked fine for years in the T4. Only got a couple months out of these bulbs. They still work but the flickering is very annoying if you're just sitting in the van trying to read a book as my kid dose sometimes. They only flicker after being on for a while too. But then if I switch them off for a while and on again they keep flickering.
