I have read a few threads about people doing this them selves but what have others paid for this work to be done main dealer and independent garage if possible

I have just been quoted £2600 from VW Guildford to do this...am considering doing it myself now
 Definitely Surrey price, have you tried getting a quote in another area, worth a drive?

Has anybody else had a quote for replacing the intake manifold....I'm just tying to work out what is a competitive price.

My mate just paid a grand supplied & fitted for a new OEM T6 air intake manifold (£340 inc VAT) at his local non VW authorised garage

Why do you need it's done?

Runner flaps?

Hole on it?

What was the diagnostics?

Cant believe I've only just noticed your profile picture !
Might have to make some new forum rules for things like that !

;)

Luckily we've just had our intake manifold, EGR + pipes, Charge cooler rad + pipes & 4 new injectors replaced under warranty with Salop Vans Shrewsbury. But told just the inlet manifold replaced would have been around a £1000 on its own.

Mine was changed (garage found a leak) while getting engine rebuild, and the OEM part itself was £386 + VAT. Didn't cost me any extra labour hours, but they said it would be a big job to do as a job on its own.

I recently replaced mine, it was blowing around the EGR inlet port, it was melted in multiple places.
Absolute pig of a job!
Bumper & rads off

suggested lifting the temp threshold to 900C but he was very concerned about doing that, so we agreed that 850C was a safer number to run at.
It took a few attempts to get the map sorted, but we finally got there.

Did the raised exhaust temp’ have a part to play in the melting manifold?

The manifold was replaced before the first exhaust temperature threshold was raised to 850C
It was melted around the EGR inlet area, the cooler clearly wasn’t doing its job.

Maybe the electric pump wasn’t functioning?

I’m sure it works ok, every time I opened a door I could hear it running for 30 or so seconds, once found out what the noise was I unplugged it to stop it from running dry.
