If I replace the BCM in my T6.1…

Do I have to have it coded or can I do this DIY?
If it came from an identical (or near identical) van then it will essentially work but any differences will need to be programmed

Any change of BCM will stop the key fob from working so you would have to open the door with a key (which will set the alarm off if you have one) but van will still drive as immo data is in cluster

Realistically the only way to do this change and have the vehicle fully operational and fault free is to take a copy of the old unit and load it into the new unit
Last time I checked there were around 1600 adaption channels in a 6.1 BCM so far too many to go manually comparing and changing !

Cheers for the response all.

I have no VCDS info / data, but it essentially it’s in and works for now with a bloomin’ issue, so It could be copied.

My passenger full beam is on as soon as I start ignition. That’s what I’m trying to solve. I thought it may be the BCM and not a physical wiring fault.

Sounds like this could be a nightmare to do and I’m seeing more £££££ to be spent to fix.

It’s in to VW specialist on the 5th, might leave all this to them.

Very easy to test the outputs etc on and off with vcds before you think about replacing parts, I would leave it too them if you don’t have any diag tools or may just end up chasing your tail or spending much more time than needed

Agreed, I’ll let them tinker about with it. Most annoying fault ever though.
