Prise it off with a trim tool. It’s just clipped in place

Hi All

I’m new here and also new to T6 transporters. I bought a project van which has throw up some questions I could do with answering. My first question is what’s with the hollow areas behind my grill badge.Is there something missing? Not sure it genuine of aftermarket without removing it. See pic
