Help with alarm going off when we’re inside. Is there a way to disable permanently ?

No you have the point, I'm aware there is an amount of evidence that the sliders in a 6.1 behave a bit differently if the base van was built expecting passengers in the back (Caravelle/Shuttle/California) or Cargo. From what I can gather vans built as Cargo variants may not have the emergency crash clutches in the doors that physically connect the Bowden cables in an emergency (the 6.1 slider is wholly electric normally for increased security)

Hence my caveat. I will go and validate mine again when I get a moment.
Interesting, though using that logic, I would have expected a kombi to behave as per the Caravelle - i.e. passengers expected to be in the back.

Yep hence my testing (sorry I left Kombi out - will edit for future accuracy)

So double checking the autolock only happens if you have done the keyfob double click from inside - opening a door from the inside doesn't seem to cancel the lock status. Clearly last time I did an overnight put stop end of March I used that method because I couldn't reach the door switch as I thought I did. Will update the post.

With reference to the T6 having a button to turn off interior monitoring on the T6, but the T6.1 having it hidden in vehicle settings;

If the T6.1 is like the Tiguan, you can add shortcut functions to the infotainment screen. Dragging down from the top of the screen opens 3 shortcut buttons. I've got the interior monitoring function, directions to home and something else that I can't remember on my Tig.

Yay! I was concerned that VW viewed workmen as expendable cargo! o_O

Ah, thanks, yes that’s the 6 vs 6.1 difference - the button just changes the ultrasonic monitoring meaning you can have that off but the deadlocks on - to do the same in 6.1 is a tedious head unit menu. I have the midrange head unit on mine and I've not found any shortcut buttons that are configurable, though I do have the pull down menu. Something else to investigate!

Could probably do with 2 new threads one for the T6 and variants and one for the T6.1 and variants. The threads preferably written by someone who understands the whole process of each vehicle. The all and everything you need to know about locking doors, locking doors from the inside and outside and what to do on the ferry ect. including internal door button processes and exiting from middle doors. The double click and so on. If the person writing out the threads with the definitive All You Need To Know is given a little time and an opportunity to rewrite anything if new evidence is presented before it is opened by all or even locked as an information page only amended by dedicated people.

The reason for my suggestion is it can become very confused reading and any new reader would need to wade through an awful lot of conflicting or additional information on what to do or be aware of. Perhaps their might be other important topics that aught to have specific information pages. Just a suggestion! :)

This is exactly why I'm updating the post, once settled I can look at if we can start a sticky thread with it.

Part of the challenge with this is I think we can only ever cover factory behaviour. Both the T6 and T6.1 have a myriad number of options and combinations that can be set, not all combinations are used by the factory, so if you're buying a second hand or converted by someone else van the best we can aim for is to give a starting point of what the base van would do.

Edited because I live in Markdown formatting most of the time and forget it doesn't work here for links

This is the screen on the Tig having dragged down the tab at the top that wakes up when you hove a finger over the screen.

There are a number of threads where this applies, with T6 and T6.1 conflicting info inter-twined - the discussion on LED headlights and whether they can/need/should be adjusted for driving abroad is one that springs to mind.

Anyone insane enough to volunteer for such a task, please take one step forward (he says, taking 1 step backward).

If you don't have swivels (I don't in the Caravelle) then reaching the driver's door button is a bit of a mission if you've arranged the rear of it for sleeping.
I've only got one on the passenger seat so the drivers seat gets moved forward to the steering wheel and then reclines as much forward as poss to get as much space as I can in the back as mine is a SWB. I thought everyone done that!!! I suppose if a cupboard is behind the drivers seat that could make things a bit more difficult though.

If your talking about the button on the B pillar it does disable the motion detectors PLUS the deadlocks are disabled as well that is with one click on the fob on a T6

Evening all, been trawling through this thread trying to find an answer to my issue but can't seem to work it out  I have a T6.1 and I've done a few trips so far and when it's bedtime I have been hitting the lock button on drivers door which locks the driver/passenger door and (hopefully) the tailgate? I can still open the sliding door though which I presume means this could be opened from the outside too? As I'm heading to Northern France soon I figured I should get this sorted! So ... my question is how do I lock the sliding door when I am inside please? Thankyou :)

When you hit the button, all the doors (including tailgate and slider) are locked, but not deadlocked. This allows them to be opened from the inside, but not from the outside.

Just remember to re-hit the lock button when you climb back in, otherwise the door you exited from will remain unlocked.

Cheers Bav, I shall test this out  Would a double press on the key fob work the same? I don't have a drivers swivel seat and I have to perform a few yoga moves to reach the door button sometimes! And I've also got a lock button on the drivers side pillar. Does that lock everything?

We always stay on camping grounds but we've never ever felt the need to lock the doors when we're inside but... reading this thread this almost starts to feel silly.

I seem to recall there is an option in the infotainment menu to switch off the interior sensors? (leaving the doors, tilt, shake etc. operational)

I'm happy to be corrected, but I believe the button on the b-pillar merely disables internal monitoring - it doesn't disable deadlocking. That's not an option I'd choose if sleeping in the van.

As for a double-press on the keyfob, I don't know. I'd guess that's the same effect as pressing the b-pillar button, but I haven't got to that page in the user manual yet! 🤡

As a solo female camper my main priority is to have all the doors locked. Seems like the door button is the best option. I'll just have to hope that my hips don't give out any time soon! :D

Lock using the button on the drivers door.

It will be locked from the outside but the internal handles will still open the doors.

Mine doesn't have interior sensors as far as I can tell but the movement triggers the alarm, a bit like it would if you jacked it up whilst locked.
